Obituary for Robert Elston Jr.

Robert Elston Jr.
Robert G. Elston Jr. was born in South Bend, Indiana. He is the son of Robert Glenn Elston Sr. and Georgia Wilkinson. He was survived by his wife, Lita Elston and loving family.

Bob is a very adventurous man, he has to be to come and marry me without seeing me first in person. We communicated through snail mail for seven months when we got married. It’s a fairy tale love affair that last 30 years. I wish I was given more time. Bob’s dream is to sail to the Philippines with his sailboat, a 44ft double ender. After 10 years in Washington State we started our voyage, Bob took lessons on Celestial navigation. We lived on that boat for 4 years to get accustomed to the boat life. We started from Umatilla Oregon to Ilwaco Washington, Newport Oregon, Eureka California to San Diego, Ca to Hilo Hawaii, Palmyra, US Private Island in the South Pacific, 1000 miles from Hilo Hawaii went to Pago-Pago, American Samoa, Apia Western Samoa, Vava’u Tonga, Suva Fiji, New Caledonia, and Papua New Guinea then to Puerto Princesa, Palawan Philippines that’s after long 14 months.

Bob’s other dream was to have his own bar, so we opened up “Landsend” sing-a-long bar, restaurant overlooking the ocean entrance to Puerto Princesa Palawan. We had the business for 2 years.

We live in Palawan for 12 years and every Christmas we gave gifts to the whole neighborhood, but its Christmas everyday with Bob when it comes to kids. He love kids and people, he got a big heart, helped several kids to go to school.

He always said, he want to leave a place a better place because he’s been there.
