Obituary for Victoria "Vicky" Couillard (LaFave)

Victoria "Vicky" Couillard (LaFave)
Victoria (Vicky) LaFave Couillard, 65, formerly of Gladstone, MI passed away December 5, 2017 at An Enchanted Assisted Living group home in Surprise, Arizona. Vicky was born December 29, 1951 in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of Patrick & Dorothy (King) LaFave.
Vicky was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Darrell “Joe” Couillard and they made their home in Gladstone and Brampton, MI, then Memphis, TN before finally settling in Flagstaff, AZ. Vicky worked at Coconino County in the Human Resource department prior to retirement. Vicky had an incredible knack for decorating and anywhere she lived was homey and comfortable. Her outgoing and caring personality led to her ability to make friends quickly with many special friendships that lasted her lifetime. She was an amazing woman with a remarkable attitude given the severity of her illness. Vicky will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her sons Joseph (Laura) Couillard (Friendswood, Texas) and Jeremy (Gina) Couillard, (Flagstaff, Arizona); brothers Patrick (Linda) LaFave (Surprise, Arizona) and Michael (Diane) LaFave (Surprise, Arizona); sisters Mary LaFave and Barbara Boor (Sun City, Arizona), Tina (Clint) Syers (Gladstone, Michigan), and Theresa LaFave (Steve Kreutzberg) (Surprise, Arizona); Grandchildren Colin, Kailey, and Taylor plus many relatives and special friends too numerous to name.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents Patrick and Dorothy LaFave, her husband Joe Couillard, her sister Laura (LaFave) Lupe, and her beloved grandson Chance Couillard.
Cremation will take place at Regency Mortuary in Sun City, Arizona. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9, from noon until 3:00 PM at the Sun Village Community Center, 14300 Sun Village Parkway, Surprise, Arizona. At the convenience of the family a memorial service is being planned for the Spring/Summer of 2018 in Gladstone, Michigan where she will be inurned in a niche at Gardens of Rest Memorial Park in Wells, Michigan.
Memorial donations in honor of Victoria may be made to The Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.org. In addition, the family will be conducting a Fundraiser through the Arthritis Foundation on Facebook in memory of Vicky.
The family offers our heartfelt appreciation to Stefan and Maria Magda and their entire staff at An Enchanted Assisted Living as well as the nurses and caregivers at Hospice of Hope for their care of Vicky for the last five months of her life. We are forever grateful for your compassion, gentleness and excellent care.
