Danny "Punky" Cole
Danny William Cole
Danny William Cole was born on July 11, 1969 to Danny and Carolyn Cole in Cottonwood, Arizona. He was a preemie baby weighing only 3 lbs 8 oz. His grandpa would visit him in the hospital and call him “Punky” which stayed with him his entire life, three years later he became the big brother to Wade. The two brothers were very close, they enjoyed lots of “competitive fun” in many things, they especially enjoyed golfing in high school together. Punky graduated from Trevor G. Browne High School, class of 1988 and had 2 very close and lifelong friends, Warren Harris and Duke Gasiorowski. He also graduated from the culinary arts program from high school as well. Punky continued gaining education, receiving his electrician license and graduating from flight school with US Airways.
Punky met and married the love of his life Tammy McBroom (Thelma) in March of 1997. Their union brought them two beautiful children, Connor and Kayla. They enjoyed the outdoors together, attending The Renaissance Festival and playing the game W.O.W. He and Kayla entered a salsa competition and won 2nd place. Punky loved spicy, hot food, the hotter the better. He would never admit that it was too hot, even while sweating and tearing up. He was especially proud of his, “Flaming Wings” hot chicken wings tee shirt he won, by eating 10 hot wings in 4 ½ minutes.
Punky was a flight attendant for 14 years with US Air and American Airlines. He loved his dogs, Cayenne, Pepper and Sugar, he loved all animals. He loved hunting, fishing and his guns, he also enjoyed drinking Diet Coke, collecting Coke memorabilia and creating his homemade hot salsa which he was very proud of. Punky was most definitely known for helping anyone in need, he loved helping others and being there for them. The family learned at the hospital that Danny had signed up not once, but twice, to be an organ donor...he was considered a pioneer they were told. The family has honored his wish as it is the epitome of his love of helping others.
He leaves behind his wife Thelma and two children, Connor and Kayla. His mother Carolyn, brother Wade, sister’s in-law, Kay Owens and Etta Love. Nieces and nephews, Hunter and Courtney Cole, Crystal Hool, Rebecca and Stephen Cruse. He is pre-deceased by his father, Danny W. Cole.
Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service, which will be a casual barbecue for him on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. It will be held at the Rio Vista Park (Ramada 8 Pavilion) 8866 W. Thunderbird Rd. Peoria, Arizona 85381.
