Obituary

In Loving Memory of Rolland Henry Roth (Ron) who was 79 years of age, left us far too soon to be with Jesus on September 10, 2019 in Glendale, Arizona. Ron was born in 1940 in Fort Riley, Kansas to his parents, Rolland T. Roth and Juanita Donabelle Roth. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Gail Mann, in 1957 and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. He had two wonderful children, Donna Roth McCarthy and Rolland H. Roth, Jr.

Ron served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy. He enjoyed his many duty assignments all over the world. He proudly served in Vietnam. He was extremely proud to attain the rank of Chief Petty Officer and earned several military awards. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years in 1978. He started a second career with the United States Post Office and retired after 25 years in 2005.

Ron loved his family with all of his heart and lived his life to the fullest. He was an incredible and fun-loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was loved very much. He loved unconditionally and was always there for his family when they needed him. His greatest joy was to spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. They say he was the best Grampy ever and that he made their time with him very special. He was always the life of the party and lit up every room he walked into with his great big smile. He loved to tell a good joke, make everyone laugh, enjoy a good meal, grill a good steak, cook a ton of popcorn, fix anything you needed fixed, and dance the night away. He could often be heard quoting one of his many sayings or telling his favorite jokes with his infectious laugh. He enjoyed being around people and people gravitated towards him. He just knew how to make people feel good. It is often said that “the affect of a fine person is felt long after you leave their presence”. Ron had that special affect on everyone he came in contact with. His friends said that he was the finest gentleman they ever met, one of the most fun loving, yet God fearing man they ever met, full of life, and simply an amazing person. His strong faith in God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, guided him throughout his life. He will be sorely missed by everyone and no one will ever be able to fill the void left by him.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, daughter, Donna McCarthy (Kent), son Rolland H. Roth Jr. (Rolanda), his four grandchildren Jessica Chappell (Matthew), Kyle Roth (Virginia), Sara VanGeest (Jerrad) and Becky Gregory (Jerry) and his 12 great-grand children; Hailee, Madison, Aaron, Caleb, Kyle Jr., Adaline, Eliana, Valerie, Dakota, Eli, Noah, and Mia.

A private memorial service will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ron was an amazing man. He always put the concerns of others before his own. He loved to make people feel comfortable by telling jokes. No one was a stranger with Ron. When we would go to a restaurant he would always ask the waiter/waitresss if they cared who paid. They would say no. He would then say "good....you can pay!" If we stayed at the table a long time he would always give them an extra tip to compensate for losing other people eating at their table. I will miss Ron dearly. He was the best brother-in-law anyone could ask for. His family was his whole life. He loved them dearly, R.I.P with all the other Angels Ron, All my love, Debbie Keller
