SUN CITY, AZ - Colette Ada Hoop, age 86, passed away peacefully at Banner Boswell Medical Center under hospice care on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

A memorial service and internment will be held at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church, Sun City, Arizona on January 21, 2020.

Colette was born May 20, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa to Willard and Beryl (Cole) Storms. She was united in marriage to Wallace E. Hoop on October 4, 1952 in Clinton, Iowa, where their four children were born.

Shortly after moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1961, she began her career with Lewis Drug. She retired as the Fabrics and Notions Retail Buyer in 1990 when she and her husband moved to Sun City, Arizona.

A skilled seamstress, Colette enjoyed sewing for herself, her family, and others. Her sewing projects ran from A - Z. If she couldn't make it, you didn't need it.

Along with sewing, she taught herself to knit and crochet. After retirement, she began knitting prayer shawls, christening blankets, baby layettes, mittens, hats, and scarves for various church ministries and hospitals. Many benefitted from her gifts of time and talent.

Colette was active in the Sun City Sew 'n' Sew Club. Highlights of her involvement included sewing baby and children's clothing for donation to the Luke Air Force Base Airmen's Attic, sewing doll clothes for the Club's boutique, and her involvement in setting up and working the Club's booth at the annual Arts and Craft Fall Festival.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children Dennis, Brian (Yvonne), David, and Lori Hoop; grandchildren Aaron and Breanna Hoop and Emma (Spencer) Saldumbide; and great grandchildren Dora Hendricksen and Ethan and Isaiah Hoop.

Colette was preceded in death by her husband Wallace, her parents Willard and Beryl Storms, and her brother Paul Storms.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Colette's memory to the Sun City Sew 'n' Sew Club, 10626 West Thunderbird Road, Lakeview Recreation Center, Sun City, Arizona, 85351.

Colette was my mother-in-law for 19 years. She was a huge influence on raising my children, Aaron and Breanna. She was kind, knew what to say and what not to say. Sunday dinners at the Hoop home will always be a pleasant memory. Her coffee was the best. I am sure Wally was waiting at Heavens Gate for her. Fly with the angels mom and dad.

I was Blessed to work with Colette at Lewis Drugs in Sioux Falls. Both my mother and worked with her. She was always such a fun and nice lady! Many memories of her when we worked at the Southgate store and in setting up the Westgate store. We had a pot luck at the Westgate store when we set that up. I think that some of the kids were also there for that, if my memory serves me! My Mother was Eleanor Kirkvold and she did the Domestics and Infants departments. I worked for your Mom in the fabrics dept for quite a while! She was a great lady and I sure enjoy being with her and working for her! You were Blessed with a special Mother. Take Care, Kathy (Kirkvold) Hoyme

My sympathy to you, Colette's family. I had the opportunity to work for you mom way back in 1976. It was my first job and I couldn't have asked for a better gal to work for. I will remember Colette as a woman who truly loved her family and enjoyed her work. May God wrap His arms around all of you as you walk this path. Polly Metzger, Lester Iowa
