Obituary

Elwood “Bud” Kaylor of Peoria, AZ, passed away peacefully at his nursing home on the morning of June 15, 2020 after suffering a series of health issues. He was 85.

Born in Highspire, PA on June 27, 1934, Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Kaylor, his four sons, Tod, Scott, Brett, and Kyle, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father, Elwood Kaylor, his mother, Mary Kaylor, and his only sister, Marlene Ney.

Bud graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA in 1956. He went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox. After his service in the Army, he was hired by S.S. Kresge Co. and later moved on to become a Store Manager at J.C. Penney. He retired in 1994 after 26 years with J.C. Penney, at which time he and wife Kay decided to move from Placentia, CA to Peoria, AZ to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

A golf and baseball enthusiast, Bud spent his retirement on his neighborhood golf course in Westbrook Village and attending Cactus League Spring Training games. He was also an avid hat collector and craftsman. He could often be found in his garage, working on a new train set or building a gift for one of his grandchildren.

Those who knew him will always remember his dedication to family, tireless work ethic, sense of humor, and fun-loving spirit.

One of the best memories I have of Bud is when he asked me if I could get Kay’’s graduation ring from her jewelry box . He wanted to surprise her with an engagement ring for Christmas . Christmas Day I was as excited as Kay!!!!
He was such a great person!
