Obituary of Yvonne Marie Friend-Fields

Yvonne Marie Friend-Fields was born on December 14, 1970, to Willie and Hosie Friend in Grand Rapids, MI. She gave her life to Christ at an early age in New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John V. Williams. Yvonne truly loved the Lord and shared her gift of cooking to demonstrate that love to all people. She truly had a spirit of hospitality. Yvonne completed her early childhood education at Kelloggsville Public Schools and went on to attend Oakland University and later, Ferris State University, where she received two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Nuclear Medicine and Health Care Administration. Yvonne met Bruce Fields in the Winter of 1994 and married the following year on November 11, 1995. Yvonne loved to travel with her husband, family, and friends, creating lasting memories of love and laughter. Crafting was her second love, she often made special items for the ones she loved. Yvonne had a unique laughter that made you laugh and a beautiful smile that lit up the room. She worked for Butterworth/Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI for 15 years and held various health care positions. In 2007, after graduating from college she was offered an internship at Henry Ford Hospital for Nuclear Medicine. After this internship, Yvonne was offered a Health Care Administration internship in Arizona at Banner Boswell. She excelled at her internship and was offered a permanent opportunity as a Nuclear Medical Technician. This brought Yvonne and her husband Bruce permanently to the sunny state of Arizona. Yvonne held many positions, including management at Banner Boswell Hospital for 12 years. She also, held role of independent traveling Nuclear Medical Technician for 2 years. Yvonne departed this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022, and is proceeded in death by her father; Willie Friend Jr, twin sister; Yvette Friend-Roberts, grandparents; Hosie and Rosie Lewis, and step-father; Harry Woods. She leaves to cherish her life, her loving husband of 26 years Bruce Fields (Surprise, Az); mother, Hosie Friend-Woods (Grand Rapids, MI); baby sister Yolanda Friend (Auburn Hills, MI); niece/sister, Tiffany Lewis (Grand Rapids, MI), uncles, aunts, cousins, a host of family members and friends. Special friends, Jami, Dawn and Michelle. Special thanks to her in-laws, Sampson (deceased) and Etta Fields for their unconditional love and support. Yvonne will be missed by those she loved and those that loved her. She fought a good fight and did not lose her faith.
