Miss you dear friend and I will hold on to Tropical Santa for you. It reminds me so much of you. There is a void and I miss our phone conversations and your friendship. You made me feel special at ren faire and as a person. When you insisted on taking me to the hospital for my eye surgeries, you touched my heart because you would not take no for an answer. So much to say about a dear sweet man who had a heart of gold! Yes dear angel, you are Santa Claus and the sticker and your picture on my truck says so! Sweet dreams with love!

I just found out ... My kids and I loved Butch so much! We met him when we joined the cast of AZRF in 2002 and he quickly became one of our favorites! We stayed in touch on Facebook over the years and I always enjoyed his photos and musings! I miss him very much! Love and hugs to all his family and friends!

I met Santa Butch for the first time last year at the Payson Elks Lodge #2154 children's Christmas party where he quickly enlisted me as his elf. Though I only met him briefly, he was a very kind soul and we had an afternoon of fun. Last night at our Elks meeting we held a memorial for his passing. Wishing your family heartfelt condolences.

It was my great sorrow that I never got to know Butch better than I did. We met at the renaissance festival and he was one of those that encouraged me to join the fun as a cast member. Once there Butch was a strong influence on how I preformed and I was immensely fond of his joviality and strength. In all ways I wished to be able to impress him, but I was satisfied at least in being able to make him laugh. What a fine, warm laugh he had and his face would light as he laughed with you. I never knew Butch in our real world but I will always cherish the memories of him as Lord High Mayor of Fairhaven a place out of time. It was a place that we could play, and it seemed to me that Butch loved to play. So long Butch, I hope you had a good game.

I knew Butch in many guises-The Bear, the Lord Mayor, Santa, and as a brother in the Men's Club. But he was always, underneath, a loving and caring man who shared of himself generously. He was the life of the party, and he took unreserved delight in singing the "Birthday Song." We shared in the struggle with Parkinson's Disease, frequently comparing notes and offering mutual support. Butch, you leave a big hole in the lives of all who you touched.

I knew Butch in many different ways and personas for the last 49 years. He participated in one of the workshops I facilitated. The Chuluaqui Quodoushka teachings of spiritual sexuality from the ancient tradition of the Mayan and Toltec cultures. We celebrated at my home with friends and fellow participants of the workshops. In full Renaissance attire we visited one of the posh Scottsdale hotels and enjoyed high tea. We were taken for the real thing as we spoke slowly and articulated our words and we each came from the land of lords and ladies. I was invited to speak at his men's group as a marriage, relationship, sex counselor and teacher of Quodoushka. We held a heart space for each other no matter how much time passed. The Lord Mayer and I always had grand expressions of affection when he would greet me at the Renaissance fair with my entourage of royalty. He suffered as every human being does with the ups and downs of relationship and health and that never defined who he was or how he lived his life. We have all shared his generosity of Heart and Spirit which Touched our Souls and forever forged us as his family. With Loving Respect, On to the next Adventure. Sent from my iPhone

Butch was one of the first 3 souls I befriended when I moved to AZ from MA - a quarter of a century ago. "Larger than life", "bon vivant" are phrases that often come to mind when trying to describe him, but never quite seem to do justice. I'll always remember his voice booming across the acres of the renaissance festival, where I was lucky enough to share stages with him for 14 of those 25 years. He'll be sorely missed.

Santa my daughter Jailynn and I will miss you so much!! I still think fondly on the day I first met you. I had just moved into the neighborhood. I was heading to the bus stop to pick up my daughter from school when I heard "HoHoHo" behind me. I turned around bewildered because it was early November and saw a real life Santa. I couldn't wait to introduce you to my daughter. Immediately you accepted her as another grand-daughter and built a special bond with both of us. My dear friend I'm so sorry I wasn't able to see you one last time. We love you.

I met Butch over a decade ago through the Phoenix Men's Club, and admired his positive take on life, his sense of humor, and willingness to help his friends. His caring and giving nature was expressed best through his Santa Claus persona, and he volunteered endless hours to making kids smile. Butch will be truly missed.

Uncle Butch will be sorely missed. I am sorry for his passing and will remember him fondly. I'll never forget how welcoming and kind he was when we met. My mom and I were on a work trip in Arizona and Uncle Butch wanted to make sure that we met. He gathered the entire family together for dinner to meet my mom and I, after he took me on a tour of the area, far and wide. I've heard many stories from Ben of how supportive and wonderful Uncle Butch always was. We were lucky to have him in our lives. We will remember him always.

You foreforever touched my heart and changed my life. You were my mentor and my santa dad. Our time together was golden and precious but cut to short. You will forever live in my heart and my thoughts ,and one day we will rejoice in heaven as brothers once again. Thank you for your love and compassion. You walked into my life at its lowest darkest point and gave me joy and happiness once again. You were the most selfless person I knew. You gave to all and asked for nothing. I love you brother Butch
