Obituary of Betty Mackesy

Betty Ann Mackesy, of El Mirage, AZ, aged 78, passed away February 10, 2022 with her sons lovingly by her side. A dedicated homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her light will not end with her death. Her family will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Betty was born February 16, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, to James and Isabella (Passolt) Hext. She was an avid lover of animals, including her cat Cookie and dog Haelee. She enjoyed spending time watching Jeopardy and playing brain teaser games. She was incredibly proud of her son, Thomas, who is honorably serving his country in the United States Marine Corps, and her devoted son Robert, with whom she enjoyed spending nights watching TV or in conversation. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gerald "Jerry" Hext and sister Arlene Koltz. Betty is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Kathy) and Robert Mackesy, her sister Nancy Kelley, and five grandchildren; Samantha, Damian, Sydney, Thomas, and Amelia. A celebration of Betty's life will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Humane Society or a favorite local animal charity.
