I met Phil 31 years ago. He had a gift that made him stand out above many. Phil made me feel welcome with just a hello. My finest memory of Phil was when I had a fortieth birthday for his Daughter. I hired a boat for a surprise party on the Chicago River. There were probably 60 guests of which Phil knew about 20%. I have never seen anyone work a crowd like he did that evening. He would stop by each person for a few minutes and within a few seconds they would have a big smile on their face. It was beautiful to see! He was never down, unhappy, or angry. When we played golf we never kept score so that there could be no cheating (on my part only).I also in later years found that after he served in the Army he went to work for the phone company, stayed 34 years, and never missed a day.I will miss all the great 5:00 cocktail hours we had together making the world a better place in our own minds because that is what 5:00 is for!One last thing. "Thanks Phil for allowing me to marry your Daughter, help raise your Grandson, and of course the day you treated me to a day a Disney World. Rest peacefully my good friend, you earned it!

Where does a daughter begin to express her feelings for her biggest fan?! Dad, you were always there for me, a pillar of strength, hope, optimism and diplomacy with a sprinkling of Irish humor! Managing to incorporate those qualities into my own life have taken me far. Your daily inquiry, "Did you do some good today?" have had a far more reaching impact than you can imagine! The memories you created for me are deeply cherished, from picking pumpkins & ice skating as a kid to 60 years later sharing our nightly phone call before your favorite, "Wheel of Fortune" & "Jeopardy"! I will forever hear you whisper your gentle words of wisdom and appreciation for life in my ear, and forever see you in another beautiful day in Arizona, where there's not a cloud in the sky! As there was never a cloud in your heart! You will be missed but always carried onboard in my heart! Love you, your favorite fan! Diane
