Obituary of Benny Lira

Benny Michael Lira, 54, passed away 9-2-2021 from complications of diabetes. He is survived by a loving mom (Hortencia), brother (Willy & Monica), niece (Maya), and many other loved relatives and friends. His beloved dad, Manny, passed away in January of this year. Ben was extremely dedicated to his decade’s long career in restaurant management where he so enjoyed working with people and has made lifelong friendships. He managed several Phoenix landmark locations including Rustler’s Rooste, Aunt Chilada’s, Gallagher’s, and most recently Macayo’s. He was happiest spending time with friends and family doing the activities he loved most: BBQ’ing, singing, dancing, Karaoke nights, sightseeing, or just hanging out telling stories and laughing. Benny was a huge AZ Cardinals and Suns fan; and an even bigger ASU Sun Devils sports fan. Many of our best memories with him are of the extended Lira clan attending ASU football games, Camp Tontozona, traveling to away games, and most of all tailgating. He loved attending reunions, sharing celebrations (especially Christmas) with family and friends, and spoiling his niece. He will be dearly missed and in our hearts forever.
