Obituary of Douglas Dwight Shearer

Douglas Dwight Shearer (AKA Ducky) age 78 of Phoenix, Arizona was born on May 14, 1945, and passed away on May 16, 2023.

Doug was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Gerald and Thelma Shearer the youngest of two children. As a child and teen, he traveled back and forth between Arkansas and Arizona and attended many different schools. He graduated from North High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

After graduation he served in the Army and went to Vietnam where he participated in parachuting out of planes among other things. He served from 1963-1966. Once out of the Army he became a Union plumber out of Union Local 469 Pipe trades. He retired in 2001.

He married and had two children, Steven D. Shearer and Jennifer M. Shearer. He would divorce two times during his life.

Doug was known to have a sweet tooth and passion when talking politics. He was an avid motorcycle rider. His interests included watching sports, motorcycles, cars, trucks, and guns. He owned many different motorcycles and vehicles during his life.

He celebrated 30 years of sobriety January 10, 2023, which was something he was proud of and enabled him to make many friends, sponsor and help others.

He is predeceased in death by his parents, Gerald and Thelma Shearer as well as his brother Gerald Shearer II. He is survived by his children Steven and Jennifer Shearer.
