Craig Cress

Obituary of Craig Alan Cress

Craig Alan Cress

July 24, 1952 - September 16, 2023 (Age 71)

Craig went home to be with the Lord on the evening of September 16, 2023 with his wife, Kathleen, by his side in the comfort and peace of his home in El Mirage, Arizona.

Born in Bellevue, PA on July 24, 1952 he was the son of the late William Cress Jr. and Margaret Ellis.  He was the third child of seven.  He is survived by his stepmom, Rebecca; his siblings Karen Baird (Miles), Bill (Gus) (Kris), Scott (Donna), Todd (Bernie), Carole and Joel (Tracey).  He had numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  Craig and Kathie were married on March 10, 1990 in a private ceremony on the beach in Naples, Florida.  He raised three stepchildren with his wife - Justin, Ashley and Bradley - all of Surprise, AZ.  Craig had four grandchildren that he loved dearly - Jayda, Cameron, Mackenzie and Aero.  He will be greatly missed by us all.

Craig worked in property management and maintenance.  He could fix anything and was knowledgeable in many areas of the construction trade.  He enjoyed working with his hands and staying very busy.  His attention to detail and strive for quality was amazing.

Craig was drafted into the army in 1973.  He moved from Pennsylvania to Florida in 1982 where he lived for 15 years before he and his family moved to Arizona in 1997. His family and friends can tell many stories of his rebel attitude, hilarious sense of humor, and strong sense of right and wrong. He loved working on jigsaw puzzles, model trains and villages, watching cowboy movies and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and riding his 100 year anniversary Harley.  He enjoyed listening to soft rock and country music. He also dabbled writing poetry.

Arrangements are private, per Craig's wish.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hospice of the Valley Arizona (hov.org).
