Obituary of Michael Thomas Cowell

Michael Thomas Cowell, also known as Mike, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, at the age of 76, in Glendale, AZ. Born on April 29, 1947, in Chester, IL, Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Karen Jean Cowell, their two sons, Christopher Michael Cowell and Patrick Warren Cowell, and his four grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Ann Zamborini, and his brothers, Daniel Cowell, John Cowell, and Joseph Cowell. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Warren "Mickey" Cowell, his mother, Hazel Katherine Cowell, and his brother, Charles Cowell.

Mike graduated from Chester High School in 1965 where he was a standout athlete and multiple sport star. After completing his education, he was drafted and proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War in 1968. His dedication and bravery earned him multiple commendations and two bronze stars.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed various hobbies. He was a passionate fisherman, hunter, golfer, and horse racing spectator. These activities brought him immense joy and allowed him to connect with nature and his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mike's remarkable journey will be held at Arrowhead Country Club in Glendale on Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to come together to share stories, memories, and support during this time of remembrance.

Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His humor and infectious laughter was always the life of the party and only surpassed by his unwavering love for his family and friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
