Bernard Bannister

Obituary of Bernard Kenneth Bannister

Bernie Bannister, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His life was characterized by quiet strength, devotion, and a deep love for his family. Bernie's journey was one of dedication, passion, and relentless commitment to his loved ones.

A man of many talents, Bernie's younger years saw him grace the ice as a skilled hockey player. His passion for life and community spirit extended to his and Lindy's establishment of their own restaurant, The Bull and Butcher, in Duncan, BC. Not just an entrepreneur, Bernie dedicated a chapter of his life to public service as a police officer in Delta, BC. His adaptability and unwavering support shone brightly when he and Lindy made the momentous decision to leave familiar shores, moving their young family to the United States. This bold move was in support of Lindy's burgeoning career in the grocery business. As the family journeyed across the western U.S., Bernie stood as the bedrock, supporting his sons through every move, sporting event, and life's myriad challenges.

His culinary prowess was not just reserved for his professional life; Bernie was known for his culinary delights, lovingly shared with family and friends. Beyond the kitchen, he harbored a love for travel, exploring the vast expanses of the country with enthusiasm and wonder.

In his later years, Bernie's heart found renewed joy as a doting grandfather. The presence of his three beloved grandchildren, Sebastian, Josie, and Juliette, brought an undeniable glow to his eyes, their youthful exuberance matching his enduring spirit.

Bernie is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lindy Bannister; his sons, Jeff, Brad, and Travis; his cherished daughter-in-laws, Deirdre, Laura, and Sally; and his grandchildren, Sebastian, Josephine, and Juliette. Bernie's legacy will resonate through generations, his lessons of perseverance, adaptability, and love serving as guiding lights for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Bannister family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this time.
