Obituary of Harry J Scott Sr.

Harry J. Scott Sr. passed away on April 8, 2024 surrounded by his loving family, in the Palms Assisted Living, Sun City, AZ.  He was born May 14, 1930 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Jake and Nellie Scott.  He married Eula Morris on September 1, 1951, she preceeded his death last year on July 30, 2023.

After high school our father joined the Army and served for 2 years before joining Gentry’s Pipeline Construction Company in Perrysburg, Ohio, managed by his father-in-law.  Our folks traveled throughout the east coast laying natural gas pipelines for Gentry Construction.  They traveled for many years until settling down in St. Clair, MI working for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company.  He was hired to supervise the first natural gas pipeline between the United States and Canada in the mid-60’s.  He also managed and supervised numerous pipeline projects across the state of Michigan.  In 1975 they relocated to Big Rapids, MI where he performed similar duties for Mich Con (as it was referred as).  Close to his retirement they again relocated to Grand Rapids, MI until 2002 when they permanently moved to AZ.

In AZ he loved spending time with his family, donating his time at Cactus League Spring Training Camp in Surprise, AZ.  He enjoyed golfing and bocce ball during the last 20 years in Surprise, AZ.  He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of over 72 years.

He was supported by his family; Harry Scott Jr. (Brenda) of Scottsdale, AZ, Debra Scott of Peoria, AZ and Michael Scott (Miriam) of Houston, TX; grandchildren Eric Scott (Yope), Melissa Crews (Jason), Jacob Scott and Matthew Scott, along with great-grandchildren Kole, Logan, Gunnar and Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister Betty, sister Ruth, brothers John, Art, and Russ.

Cremation arrangements with Regency Mortuary in Sun City, AZ.  Internment will be held at a later date at Mona View Cemetary in Muskegon, Michigan.
