Obituary of Stanley Ronald White

Stanley Ronald White, known affectionately by his closest friends and family as Ron, was the son of Stanley Lionel White of Hereford, Texas and Ellen Verde Sanders of Durant, Oklahoma. He was born at the former St. Francis Medical Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico on December 1, 1950. After he, his parents, and his sister moved to Dublin, TX from approximately 1957-1961, they returned to settle in Carlsbad. His father Stanley worked at the potash mines and, eventually, earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. Ron's mother, Ellen, in the tradition of a great many families at that time, stayed home and maintained a very clean, tidy and immaculate house, as well as watched over the kids when they were young. An exceptionally bright young man, Ron graduated third in his class from Carlsbad High School in 1968. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and attended basic training at Camp Pendleton, CA. During basic training, Ron broke his ankle and was honorably discharged from the armed forces. Not long after returning home to New Mexico, Ron decided to pursue his higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. After earning his degree, he returned home to Carlsbad and pursued a career in law enforcement, first with the Eddy County Sheriff's Department, and then with City of Carlsbad Police Department. In 1977 he met Mercedes Renteria of Stahmann Farms, NM, and the two were wed a year later in 1978. Two years later the couple had their first child, Ronald Vincent White, and two years after that they had their second, Jessica Elaine White. In 1986, Ron retired from the police force and moved to Phoenix, AZ to continue his education. In 1996 he earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration from Arizona State University in Tempe. Not long afterward, he met his long-time partner Cheryl Taul. That same year, Ron became an employee of the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. He remained an employee of Palo Verde until 2019. After retiring from Palo Verde, he continued to work on a part-time basis as a guard providing security to various construction sites in the greater Phoenix area. Ron continued at this post until his health permitted him from doing so. Ron White was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Ellen and his older sister Betty. Ron is survived by his son Vinny White of Carlsbad; his daughter Jessica Webb and son-in-law Damon of Carlsbad; two granddaughters, Kayleanna Madrid and Harper Webb, both of Carlsbad; his partner Cheryl Taul and her son Ronnie Taul, both of Peoria, AZ; older sister Carolyn Fowler, brother-in-law Jim Fowler, and niece and nephew Scotty and Mindy Fowler, all of Las Cruces, NM; and many nieces and nephews. Ron will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. He was an extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, and loving man, who showered affection on all those he came across. Ron's faith was always the foundation of his existence, and his faith has carried him home to be with his Heavenly Father and live in everlasting peace. A memorial service and celebration of life for Ron will be held this fall.
