Obituary of Judy Lee Allen

Judith Lee Allen (Judy), age 79, passed away peacefully in Peoria, Arizona on April 8^th, 2023 after a seven year battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.

Judy was born July 9, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Evelyn Cassidy. Her mother, Evelyn, passed away just a few days after her birth and her father, Robert was in the service during WWII at the time of Evelyn’s death. Judith was raised by Travis and Frances Lockwood her maternal grandparents. She attended grade school and high school in Indianapolis. She met Phil Allen, they were sweethearts in high school, and they were married in March1962. In 1970, Phil and Judy moved with their two sons to Phoenix and made it their permanent home.

Judy earned an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from Phoenix College in1978. She went on to receive a BS from Northern Arizona University in 1982 graduating Summa Cum Laude. She practiced Dental Hygiene for 27 years, retiring in 2005.

Judy was a founding member of Life in Christ Lutheran Church. She participated actively in the church for many years. She was always there to listen and to help others in need, loved to greet new visitors, was a member of the choir, and would take on most any task asked of her. She had a servant’s heart.

After retirement, Judy’s hobby was quilting. She was an excellent quilter and loved creating charity quilts for various organizations. She always enjoyed traveling, cruises, RVing, road trips, hiking and entertaining family and friends. Judy was a great cook and baked the best apple pie on Earth.

Judy is survived by, Phil, her husband of 61 years and her two sons, Jeffrey (Kim), and John, her grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler, Lindsay and Jake, and by her half-sister Susie McEuen and half-brothers, Gary and Steve Cassidy.

Her mother, father, and grandparents are predeceased.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 28^th at Life In Christ Lutheran Church, 14802 N. 75^th Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85381. The service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or to Life in Christ Lutheran Church.
