Obituary of V Ethel Beetley

V Ethel Beetley passed away on October 11, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born October 31, 1934 in Helvey, Nebraska to Harold Kulhanek, Sr. and Virneeda Ogle Kulhanek, the seventh of nine children. She spent her childhood in Jefferson County in southeast Nebraska, attending school and helping her parents raise pigs and chickens on the family farm. She graduated Steele City High School in 1952 and soon moved to Fairbury to work as a bank teller. 

 

She lived in Fairbury for more than 30 years, raising a family and working various jobs, including managing the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce and working as bartender and cook at Fairbury Country Club. In 1985, she moved to Lincoln to join the staff at the University of Nebraska. She worked for a year in the Bursar's Office, and then moved to the Benefits Office where she was a Retirement Specialist. She retired in 2011 at the age of 77 and resided in Lincoln until May 2021, when she moved to Goodyear, AZ to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. 

 

She is survived by two siblings, Lorraine Richardson of Gretna, NE, and Jim (Mary) Kulhanek of Lincoln, NE, daughter Rebecca (David) Trimble of Goodyear, AZ, son Michael (Caroline) Beetley of Chicago, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
